Virtualization is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted.

The Advance Virtualization Facility in OSCC is setup to accommodate agencies that are interested in using/testing OSS product without incurring the high acquisition cost of traditional server. It is also to provide the agencies another incentive to try out OSS product and ease the migration from proprietary software.
